Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer (m/f/d)

About the role
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer (m/f/d) to design, implement, and maintain our organization’s critical IT infrastructure. In this role, you will oversee servers, networking hardware, virtualization platforms, and storage solutions while ensuring high performance, security, and reliability. You will also play a key role in strategic IT planning, system optimization, and ensuring compliance with organizational SLAs
Your Responsibilities
  1. Infrastructure Design and Implementation:
    • Architect and deploy robust IT infrastructure solutions, including servers, networking hardware, and storage systems
    • Lead the deployment of WAN and LAN architectures focusing on scalability and performance
  2. Server and Storage Management:
    • Manage and optimize enterprise-grade servers (Dell, Supermicro, HP)
    • Oversee NAS and storage solutions (Synology, Dell Storage), ensuring high availability and redundancy
  3. Networking & Security:
    • Configure and manage advanced networking devices, including switches, access points (Aruba, Dell, Cisco), and routers (OPNSense, Fortinet)
    • Implement and maintain routing protocols (BGP, OSPF) and other networking solutions, such as DNS, DHCP, NAT, SLAAC, NAT64, and NFS
    • Ensure network security through VPN solutions (OpenVPN, WireGuard), RADIUS server configurations, and DMZ deployments
  4. System Administration:
    • Oversee operating systems, including Linux, Windows, macOS, and enterprise platforms like Windows Server 2022
    • Deploy and manage virtualized environments using VMware and Proxmox
  5. Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
    • Utilize network monitoring tools such as Zabbix to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks
    • Monitor and uphold SLAs by ensuring required uptime and system availability
  6. Domain and Directory Services:
    • Administer and maintain Windows Active Directory and domain routing for efficient user and system management
  7. Advanced Networking Deployments:
    • Manage both IPv4 and IPv6 network implementations, including dual-stack environments
    • Lead advanced networking initiatives involving subnetting, routing, and security
  8. Cloud and Containerization (Nice-to-Have):
    • Support cloud-based deployments on Azure and AWS platforms
    • Assist with the implementation of containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in IT infrastructure engineering or related infrastructure roles.
  • Extensive experience with enterprise hardware (servers, switches, routers, and storage systems).
  • Advanced knowledge of networking protocols (BGP, OSPF) and network architecture design.
  • Proficiency in virtualization technologies (VMware, Proxmox) and operating systems (Linux, Windows, macOS).
  • Strong experience with monitoring and management tools like Zabbix.
  • Expertise in security protocols, including VPNs, RADIUS, and DMZ configurations.
  • Valid driving license in the European Union
Beneficial Skills
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
  • Knowledge of containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with IT compliance and risk management standards
