About the role
Agile Robots SE has acquired a majority stake in audEERING GmbH in 2025. This vacancy is to be filled at audEERING GmbH, either in Munich or in Berlin.

We're seeking a highly motivated and talented Senior AI Researcher (m/f/d) for the Audio AI Research team to drive the development and innovation of speech and language technologies, including analysis, understanding and synthesis of speech and audio.

Your Responsibilities
  • Design, implement or extend cutting-edge audio codecs and DSP algorithms
  • Train and evaluate state-of-the-art AI and machine learning models including large language models with architectures such as Transformers, CNN, (Bi-)/x-LSTM in frameworks such as PyTorch
  • Contribute to and work with tools and infrastructure for efficient evaluation and benchmarking for AI models
  • Create, collect, and curate high-quality and large-scale data sets for AI training and evaluation in collaboration with the data team
  • Present research findings in internal research workshops and machine learning seminars, and represent the research team and company at top-tier conferences, as well as network with the research community
Essential Skills
  • Min. 2 years of direct experience (in academia or industry) working in one or more of the following areas:
    • Experience with audio, speech or language processing technology, such as digital signal processing, acoustic feature extraction, audio codecs and vocoders, automatic speech recognition, speech dialogue systems, or speech synthesis
    • Experience with generative AI models, such as diffusion models, large language models, or generative adversarial networks
  • Deep understanding of machine learning and artificial intelligence, including training algorithms, evaluation and statistics especially for textless speech models, transformers and other (recurrent) neural network architectures
  • Strong proficiency in Python and PyTorch (or closely related frameworks), with extensive experience in implementing and optimizing machine learning workloads
  • Ability to work in a fast-evolving field, dynamic work environment and to deliver on time
  • Excellent team player, problem solver and goal achiever
Beneficial Skills
  • PhD in Computer Science or related field
  • First-author publications at top-tier conferences (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, Interspeech or ICASSP), publications in top-tier journals in the field, or patents
  • Familiarity with MLOps practices and tools
  • Experience in building low-latency conversational AI systems
  • Experience in deploying large-scale speech AI systems and/or cloud services for audio processing
  • Experience with distributed, parallel training on large-scale computing clusters
  • Contributions to open-source single or multi-modal LLM projects
  • Extensive experience with audio and speech generation (synthesis) and transformation (voice conversion, translation, etc.).
  • Experience in psychology or linguistics
  • Experience with reinforcement learning
  • Experience with multi-modal language models such as audio and vision language models
