Senior Robotics Simulation Engineer (m/f/d)

Festanstellung, Vollzeit · Munich

About the role
As a Senior Simulation Engineer, you will lead the development and integration of advanced simulation environments to support robotics research, testing, and deployment. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to design realistic physics-based simulations, implement complex robotic behaviors, and optimize rendering and performance. Your work will directly impact the development and validation of real-world robotic systems by providing scalable, high-fidelity virtual testing environments. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of physics, software engineering, and robotics.
Your Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable and high-fidelity simulation environments for various robotic systems (e.g., manipulators, mobile robots, humanoid robots)
  • Develop and integrate realistic sensor models (e.g., LiDAR, cameras, IMUs, force/torque sensors) into simulation platforms
  • Create accurate kinematic and dynamic models of robots and their interactions with the environment
  • Collaborate with controls, planning, perception, and software engineers to ensure simulations accurately reflect real-world robot behavior and performance
  • Develop tools and pipelines for simulation data analysis, visualization, and automated testing
  • Identify, diagnose, and resolve simulation fidelity issues and discrepancies between simulation and reality
  • Drive the adoption of best practices in simulation development, including modularity, reusability, and performance optimization
  • Contribute to the architectural design and evolution of our simulation infrastructure
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in robotics simulation tools, techniques, and research
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement
Essential Skills
  • Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in robotics simulation development
  • Proficient in C++ or Python and in one or more major robotics simulation platforms like Gazebo, Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, or similar
  • Strong understanding of robotics fundamentals (kinematics, dynamics, control, sensor fusion)
  • Experience with 3D modeling and creating realistic simulation environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with real-time physics engines and GPU acceleration
  • As a plus: Knowledge of reinforcement learning or synthetic data generation
  • As a plus: Familiarity with cloud-based simulations and CI/CD pipelines
What we offer
  • A dynamic, highly qualified, and diverse team in which your contributions are reflected directly in our products and used by our international customer base
  • Flat hierarchies and short decision-making processes
  • Exciting and varying tasks for our product portfolio
  • Excellent working environment, modern office space, and flexible working hours with the option of mobile working
