About the role

The AI Research Division of Agile Robots is looking for a (Senior) Cloud / Backend Engineer (m/f/d) Industrial Systems & Observability You will design, build, and operate cloud and hybrid cloud–on-premise infrastructure systems that support logging, monitoring, and data collection for industrial robotic production lines. The role focuses on observability, data pipelines, and system integration across factory environments and cloud platforms to enable reliable operation, diagnostics, and continuous improvement of deployed robotic systems.

Your Responsibilities
  • Observability Systems: Design, implement, and maintain solutions for logging, metrics, tracing, and monitoring of production-line systems.
  • Data Pipelines: Build and operate data collection, buffering, and transport pipelines across on-premise and cloud environments.
  • System Integration: Develop APIs and integrations to export, consume, and report operational data from factory systems.
  • Platform Enablement: Provide standards, libraries, and best practices for observability, monitoring, and data usage to product and engineering teams.
  • Infrastructure Operations: Maintain and evolve containerized services and deployment workflows supporting factory-scale systems.
  • Field Collaboration: Collaborate with on-site engineers during deployment, validation, and feedback cycles, including travel to customer or factory locations when required.
Essential Skills
  • Cloud & Backend Engineering: Several years of professional experience building cloud, infrastructure, or backend systems, including logging and data-intensive services.
  • Production Code: Ability to write production-quality code with unit and integration tests in at least one major language (e.g. Java, Python, or C++), using collaborative Git-based workflows.
  • System & API Design: Solid understanding of system design, application architecture, integration patterns, and API design for distributed systems.
  • Data & Event Pipelines: Experience working with data storage systems (SQL or object storage) and event-streaming or messaging platforms such as Kafka.
  • Containerization: Hands-on experience with containerized environments and modern deployment workflows in production settings.
  • Observability & Monitoring: Experience designing or operating logging, monitoring, alerting, and dashboarding solutions for production systems.
  • Industrial Deployment Context: Exposure to industrial or production-line environments, professional working proficiency in English, and willingness to travel to production sites when required.
  • Language & Travel Readiness: Professional working proficiency in English and willingness to travel to production sites to assist with deployment and validation when required.
Beneficial Skills
  • Hybrid Infrastructure: Familiarity with hybrid infrastructures, including on-premise deployments integrated with cloud platforms.
  • Cloud Platforms: Experience using public cloud platforms, with Microsoft Azure as a plus.
  • Additional Capabilities: Knowledge of additional programming languages (e.g. C#, Node.js), technical documentation, or Chinese language proficiency.
