Working Student 3D Design & Prototyping for Robotics (m/f/d)

Intern / Student, Full-time · Germany, Munich (HQ)

About the role
At Agile Robots SE, we combine intelligent robotics, advanced software, and modern engineering to bring flexible automation into real industrial environments. Our teams work at the intersection of mechanical design, robotics, control systems, and rapid prototyping to turn ideas into functional robotic solutions.

We are now looking for a motivated working student for 3D Design & Prototyping to support hands-on development inside our Robot Lab. In this role, you will design custom mechanical components, manufacture them using in-house 3D printing workflows, and validate them directly on robotic systems. If you enjoy turning concepts into physical prototypes and want to be part of real industrial robotics projects, this internship is for you.
Your Responsibilities
  • Create and iterate 3D designs for custom robot tools, fixtures, and lightweight mechanical components
  • Prepare and execute 3D printing jobs, including materialselection, print parameter tuning, and post-processing
  • Test and evaluate prototypes directly on robots as part of ongoing R&D and customer projects
  • Work hands-on in our Robot Lab to support setup activities, such as assembling demo cells, mounting tools, routing cables, and handling hardware adjustments
  • Collaborate with robotics engineers, application developers, and project teams to refine designs based on testing results
  • Document design iterations, test results, and prototype performance
Essential Skills
  • Ongoing studies in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Industrial Design, ora related technical field
  • Solid understanding of 3D CAD design; SolidWorks experience is a strong advantage
  • Practical experience with3D printing(FDM or SLA), includingoperatingprinters and troubleshooting prints
  • Interestin mechanical prototyping, robotics hardware, and hands-on lab work
  • Ability to work independently on design tasks and follow through prototypes from concept to validation
  • Good communicationskills in English
Beneficial Skills
  • Experience designing lightweight structures, brackets, or adapters for mechanical or robotic use
  • Familiarity with tolerance considerations, material properties of printed parts, and basic mechanical analysis
  • Exposure torobotic systems, end-effectors, or industrial automation
  • Basic knowledge of rapid prototyping workflows or small-scale fabrication tools (e.g., laser cutters, hand tools, soldering)
What we offer
  • Work directly with collaborative robots, advanced sensors, andreal industrialhardware
  • Be part of an interdisciplinary environment combining robotics, mechanical design, software, and automation
  • Opportunity to turn your designs into real components used in customer demos and R&D projects
  • A modern, international working culture with flat hierarchies and room for initiative
  • Mentoring from experienced robotics engineers and continuous technical feedback
  • Flexible working and a hands-on,innovation-driven atmosphere in our Robot Lab
