Head of IT Infrastructure (m/f/d)

Germany, Munich (HQ)
Full-time
Permanent employee

About the role

Our IT is growing with the company fast, internationally, and across many sites. That is why we are expanding our IT organization and creating a new leadership level. As Head of IT Infrastructure, you own the technical backbone of our company worldwide: networks, data centers and cloud, compute and storage, identity and platform services, and the infrastructure at our production, test and laboratory sites.

You lead regionally based teams – existing ones that you integrate and develop, and new ones that you build. You turn locally grown solutions into a globally governed infrastructure with clear standards, dependable operations and the scalability our growth demands. This role is about shaping, not administering.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop the global infrastructure strategy and roadmap and set binding standards and architectures for all sites

  • Own the secure, stable and cost-effective operation of our infrastructure worldwide – including availability, capacity, monitoring, backup and recovery capability

  • Lead and develop the regional infrastructure teams, build new teams and establish a shared operating and leadership culture across time zones

  • Steer the infrastructure project portfolio – from network and cloud modernization to connecting new sites and integrating acquisitions

  • Own budget, vendors and contracts in your area and ensure a sound balance of performance and cost

  • Implement the requirements of our Head of Information Security technically and ensure audit readiness

  • Work closely with Helpdesk & Service Support so that solid technology translates into a good service for our colleagues

  • Act as the point of contact for site leadership, Production and R&D on all infrastructure requirements

Your Profile

  • Degree in computer science, business informatics, engineering or a comparable qualification

  • At least 10 years of experience in IT infrastructure, including several years in a line management role – ideally for distributed, international teams

  • A broad technical foundation across network, cloud and data center, virtualization, Microsoft 365 and identity environments as well as automation; solid depth in at least two of these

  • Confident handling of ITIL-oriented operating processes, budget ownership and vendor management

  • Experience building and standardizing structures in a growing company – pragmatically, without over-engineering the process

  • Business-fluent English; German and/or Chinese advantageous

  • Willingness to travel internationally on occasion (approx. 20%)

  • A plus: experience in manufacturing or research-driven environments, with OT networks, post-merger integrations or building IT in APAC and AMER

What we offer

  • A dynamic high-tech company combined with financial soundness and world-class investors

  • Join an interdisciplinary, international team with 60+ different nationalities in a collaborative work environment
  • Lots of development opportunities in the context of our continued growth
  • Challenging tasks and impactful projects alongside experts that enable professional and personal growth
  • Corporate Benefits Program that covers health, mobility, and learning with 100€ net per month
  • Modern office facilities with a rooftop terrace overlooking Munich, and regular company events contribute to a good working environment
